An Important Disclaimer Relating to “Natural” Ingredients

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not developed a definition for the term “natural” or its derivatives.  Some states, however, have developed varying standards for the use of this term as it relates to both human and pet food.  Signature Pet Products wishes consumers to know that it is careful to use this term only when the ingredients in its pet food formulations meet the highest practical standards in providing a healthy, safe, and pure product insofar as today’s standards of manufacturing best practices will allow.

Mixed tocopherols used in our products are sourced as natural tocopherols, even though there are synthetic preservatives on the market.  These vitamin E compounds are used to stabilize the fats used in our products, thereby avoiding rancidity and spoilage.

Ethoxyquin is a synthetic compound that is never added to our formulations by Signature Pet Products.  However, Federal Law requires the use of Ethoxyquin and other synthetic stabilizers in ships entering U.S. waters with fish, fishmeal, or fish scrap on board.  Although we are careful in our selection of sources of fish and fishmeal it is possible that trace amounts of these artificial preservatives may be found.

Genetically modified grains are predominant in U.S. crops and may be found in Signature Pet Prducts brands.  There is no documented scientific evidence that these GMO ingredients offer any threat to health, and are widely used in human food worldwide.

Signature Pet Products continues to offer its customers the safest products we know using careful ingredient sourcing and best practice manufacturing techniques.  If you would like to know more, please contact us at info@signaturepetproducts.com.
